Frequently Asked Questions
WHO ARE WE?
We are health care providers-in-training invested in creating an environment in which bias can be openly discussed and appropriately addressed.
WHY IS OUR WORK NECESSARY?
As humans, we all hold implicit biases that can cause us to make automatic judgments without the intention to harm. Since bias has been shown to adversely impact the patients we seek to serve, it is vital to begin identifying these biases within ourselves and others. Only then can we prevent bias from interfering with our clinical decisions and behaviors with colleagues, students, and others.
HOW DO WE WORK TO #TREATSYSTEMICDISEASE ?
Our project aims to raise awareness about bias from the perspective of health care providers and those in training while equipping them with the tools and resources to advocate for change in systems or structures that generate and perpetuate such bias. Together, we can help eradicate the systemic disease of bias and injustice in medicine, working towards a more just society overall.
